HISTORY OF THE ARTIST: Oscar Bruno Bach (German - American, 1884-1957), German born craftsman, was one of the most technically skilled and commercially successful figures in the field of decorative metalwork during the first half of the 20th century. Oscar Bach was born in Breslau, Germany but it was in New York City that he spent most of his adult life. His Manhattan studios maintained steady prosperity throughtout the 1920s and 1930s, providing fine custom metalwork for society's wealthiest members along with quantities of mass-produced objects for the middle market.
