"THE TRIPLE ALLIANCE" by OSCAR CESARE (1885-1948). Shown are Teddy Roosevelt, publisher William Randolph Hearst and New York Governor William Sulzer at the Direct Primaries. This editorial cartoon was done for the New York Morning Sun and using the notes it was May 19, 1913. 14.5" x 20.5" heavy Strathmore drawing board. Illustration is 11" x 14". Comes with all the marks and tags in the margins/back of an editorial cartoon. This is an original not a copy! Cesare was strongly opposed to the United States entering the war. /wiki/Oscar_Cesare This site gives more information on him and his life including the 1913 Armory Show. It is amazing how most of these cartoons fit current situations in the US and world! These are from the collection of Cesare's widow and have been stored in her attic for 50 years and are being offered for sale for the first time this year. I was able to acquire several at auction, but these are the last of his works. They are historic in value and probably should be in a museum, but you get the unique opportunity to buy one or more now. I will not end the auction early. I will combine shipping. International buyers see note under shipping. Ask if you have questions. NO reserve. You bid, it sells!
