WORLD PEACE by OSCAR CESARE (1885-1948). This editorial cartoon was done for the New York Times Magazine. It depicts the arm of a US Patriot raising World Peace from the ashes of World War I. (This description was on a paper included with the cartoon, but may be inaccurate). The date October 31, 1943 (stamped in upper right) should be accurate as he worked for the Times until just before his death. You decide. 19.5" x 14.5" heavy drawing board. Illustration is 18" x 11.5". Comes with all the marks of an editorial cartoon. This is an original not a copy! Cesare was strongly opposed to the United States entering the war. /wiki/Oscar_Cesare This site gives more information on him and his life including the 1913 Armory Show. I have several of his cartoons that I will be listing over the next few weeks. It is amazing to me how most of them fit current situations in the US and world! I will not end the auction early. I will combine shipping. Ask if you have questions. NO reserve. You bid, it sells!
