Mata Ortiz / Casas Grandes Artistic Black Ware Pottery, Finest Quality Art from Northern Mexico *Signed by Oscar Quezada of the Valley of Casas Grandes in the City of Mata Ortiz , from the State of Chihuahua Mexico . *Oscar Quezada is one of the finest potters creating beautiful Black on Black pottery. This art is of the highest quality available in the Casas Grandes Valley of Mexico . *Oscar Quezada is the son of Consolacion Quezada. Consolacion is the elder sister of Juan Quezada. Oscar is listed as a Master Potters in "The Many Faces of Mata Ortiz" by author Susan Lowell. Oscars uncle Grandmaster Juan Quezada rediscovered the ancient pottery making process and an artistic and economic renaissance was born in Mata Ortiz. Oscar learned his skills from the best Master Potters in Mata Ortiz, the Quezada Family. This is an outstanding Mata Ortiz collector's piece. *This beautiful piece of art work stands 7 1/2" tall x 9" wide. The mouth is 4" wide. The circumference is 25". This excellent piece comes with a Mata Ortiz pottery ring stand. *This pottery is in demand from both collectors and commercial traders for the distinctive beauty and balance of its work and structure. *This beautifully designed Black Ware Olla from the Casas Grandes Valley is of excellent quality with delicately hand coiled thin walls. *Technically and aesthetically, Casa Grandes / Mata Ortiz pottery equal or surpass the work of the Indians potters of the American Southwest. They had a wonderful show and exhibit. Oscar Quesada was the featured Mata Ortiz artist at the University of Arizona's sponored exhibit.
