You are bidding on an Academy Award that is over 60 years old. No serial number and without it's base. I am told the Academy has no claim on this Oscar because it is pre- 1950. Serial numbers where not attached until after 1950. The award, as you can see is worn and tarnished. The gold is flaking, the metal shines through in spots and there are some dings at the bottom. This Oscar was given to me many years ago by a woman who is still currently a member of the Academy and now living overseas. Her husband was a successful screenplay writer in the 40's and 50's. One thing you should know. Oscars this old do not come with certificates. We have looked for the base to no avail. It is being sold as is. The statue without the base is around 10 and a half inches tall and the reel at the bottom, 3 and a half inches across.
