Description & Details

AESTHETIC BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATE

TUNIS PATTERN

Edge Malkim and Co Potteries
Staffordshire England
c. 1870

This Victorian aesthetic 7 3/8 " wide plate is transfer printed in rich blue. The clear and crisp TUNIS pattern features fabulous flowers that surround the Japanesque cartouches of Ducks and Fish interwoven with geometric designs. The pattern displays the victorian eras love of nature.

The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Edge Malkim, a pottery maker working in Cobridge in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.

The piece is in EXCELLENT condition, clean shiny and bright, appears to have never been used. It is absolutely gorgeous - elegant and well potted, with richly detailed transfers reflecting the Victorian love of the exotic.
