WELCOME TO MY VIOLETS AUCTION. Springtime is around the corner and soon the garden will be filled with those wonderful fat leaves of the Viola plant, popping up out of the ground. Soon to follow will be those dainty stems with their nodding heads of Violets. My auction today is going to show Violets and Pansies - with another purple or two thrown in. ! I will be listing very fine and very beautiful hand painted Limoges, Bavaria or Austrian porcelain that are all painted with one of the gardener's favorite flowers - the hardy and prolific Viola. This little beauty has been a central point of my Violet collection for years - it is just scrumptious! Not only is this a beautiful mold, but it is vibrantly and richly painted with Violets and has it's underplate to boot! The Violets dance around the whole body of this covered Syrup and daintily rise up to the top with their tiny heads. The colors are so rich and strong - it is remarkable. The Gold is rich and gleaming and very thick. This is a gorgeous set. The Syrup stands 5 1/4" tall and 5 1/2" across it's widest width which includes the handle. The underplate - w the syrup nestles perfecly into it's concave center - measures 5 3/4" in diameter and has a gold trimmed rim. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The colors are fabulous - rich, strong and deep.
