Up for auction is an outstanding pair of Chinese figures that is expertly carved in ivory and incised all around. They are very impressive to look at and quite amazing when being held and studied. The man measures 11-7/8" high with the wooden base being 1-3/8" of that. He is wearing a long robe and a hat with a finial sticking up in the center. His left hand is holding a long necklace he is wearing while his right hand is holding the handle of a sword which is pressed against his waist. The woman measures 11-3/4" with the wooden base being 1-3/8" of that. She is wearing a long robe and has large hair clips in her black hair. Her left hand is holding a sash cord while her right hand is holding something at the end of what is connected to the sash cord. The pictures are darker that the ivory only to show detail in the carvings. The color is much softer than seen This pair is truly an amazing pair of Chinese statues and are really quite hard to find anymore. This pair is being consigned by the ower who purchased them in a California auction back in 1990 and had paid $1500.00 for them back then. We have set the opening bid at half the original purchased price. They were listed as King and Queen Ivory Statues. Both ivories are in excellent condition. Shipping will be determined at the end of this auction and will include delivery confirmation and insurance will be extra if needed.
