Used copy of 'Over the Sea to Skye , by Alasdair Alpin MacGregor, published by Chambers of London and Edinburgh. The book is undated, though believed to be the 1926 First Edition. It has an owner's inscription dated 1928 on one of the prelim pages. There is no dustjacket. The book contains a number of black & white photographic plates, and has dark green endpapers. The book is a hardback, bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine.
The head and tail of the spine and the corners of the boards are bumped and rubbed. The pages are yellowing and foxed throughout, particularly the endpapers. The page edges are also dustmarked and foxed. Some of the page edges are rough trimmed. There is what looks like a small burn mark affecting the front cover and first few pages, approximately halfway up.The front hinge is cracked, and the spine shaken, though the spine and covers are still attached. The prelim page with the inscription is torn approx. halfway up the side nearest the spine. The photographic plates at page 184 and 296 are detached, but present. The top right corner of the plate at page 160 has been folded over and is creased. Those defects aside, the pages and plates are all still present, and the text legible, so the book is in acceptable condition as a reading copy. ... read more
