STRANGE BEDFELLOWS by Rick Herter "This fine limited edition lithograph by Rick Herter is an authentic representation of an event described in my book, Doorknob Five Two. Low on fuel, an Me.109 accepts a P-38 escort to Sicily. I am Fredric Arnold, the P-38 pilot depicted in the painting. I'm 85 years old and the last survivor of my original P-38 group. Time has come to divest myself of some of my WW II memorabilia. The artist, Rick Herter, is one of America's foremost aviation artists. His work is in the Pentagon, the Smithsonian, and favored by collectors. This superb numbered print is signed by the artist and me. Both the German and American Squadron insignias are reproduced on the border of the lithograph. I painted the Remarque/Collage Print attached to the lower border." Fredric Arnold "No! Fredric Arnold is featured in the documentary, "Between Two Worlds" a Cinetrope Films production memorializing the 12 men killed who were in his original group of 14 P-38 Fighter Pilots in 1943, Class of 42J. Major Arnold is also the author of Doorknob Five Two, a graphic memoir of his experiences as a fighter pilot and offered for sale on eBay.
