The maintenance manual was found in our father's garage after he died several years ago. He was a Navy mechanic in WWII, and must have preserved this from that time. We three sons found it pretty unusual that Dad never shared this with us, and are certain that he would be proud that modern technology allows us to share it in this fashion.
I located the 2 P-51s in Philadelphia when the mechanic ordered one of the maintenance manuals. The owner of those planes allowed me to take the photographs of the construction details , as requested by several model makers around the world. The original Merlin overhaul manual was owned by the local mechanic, who allowed me to borrow the manual to scan it for this CD. The additional reference material, the helmets, masks and documentation , Graphic Design, and CD organization for distribution were contributed by Mikael Bowellan in Finland. The Maintenance Manual is about 500 Pages and the Merlin Overhaul manual is nearly 800 pages. T are also about 200 close up photos of the construction details, harness and hydraulic routing, rivet patterns and fuselage markings. I was asked to find these by several precision model makers around the world. For example, they couldn't find the spark plug wiring routing - they have photos now. is a link to a web site that houses about 10 Percent of the CD.
