Up for auction is this Pennsylvania Gazette and Weekly Advertiser dated Wednesday, October 3, 1781. This paper includes an article about the execution of Colonel Isaac Hayne by the British authorities during the American Revolution for treason against the crown. Isaac Hayne later became known as a Martyr for the American cause and some believe this ruthless act turned the tide of the war in favor of the American Patriots. The caption in the paper reads, âeoeThe following are part of a very large packet of letters lately taken by general Marion, near Monkâe(tm)s-Corner, in South Carolinaâe. The first few letters are from Joseph Lee, Capt. 1 st Batt. N.J.V. speaking of war issues such as recruiting or drafting men from the ships from the harbor, money issues with General Skinner (the last Attorney General under the Royal Government of New Jersey). In all t are 11 printed letters from various British loyalists. Condition: As you can see t are some tears and wear. T is an overall light tan or beigh color with some stains.
