Pacific Fast Mail Toby 1959 Union Pacific Northern 4-8-4 Model was acquired a number of years ago and some of the information that follows comes from that original sale. I am not the original owner. This is the 1959 Run of this PFM Crown model and according to the Brown Book and later brass guides it was built by Toby. It is number 19 of 35 built in 1959 and there is a serial number 19 on the left side of the frame below the cab. The model was supposedly painted by a well-known Chicago area custom painter Bob Janz in the early 1960s. It is finished in Road Number 832 with cab figures. Please note that there has been some repair to the solder joint connections at the inside face of the deflectors and the bracket connectors for the same deflectors. I have included photos that show this condition. One of the front vertical handrails also needs adjustment to sit properly in the last stanchion. The model retains the original open frame motor and operates very smoothly even at slow speeds. However, there is the typical “coffee grinder” gear noise and a very slight driver wheel wobble. It does have some wheel wear. Included is the original PFM Crown blue box with read more
