Pacific Ocean Park (POP) Historical Memorabilia
This is a private collection of Original Artist Drawings / Renderings, POP Promotional Pictures, Brochures, and between 50 to 100 Original Newspaper Clippings about Pacific Ocean Amusement Park in Santa Monica, CA. Clippings are in a large scrapbook, and pictures are in a binder inside protective sheets.
The Original Artist Drawings / Renderings were done by a family member. He was in charge of the designing of the park and rides. They show the South Sea Island Ride, Neptune's Kingdom, etc. There are many newspaper clippings that talk about him, and his design for the park. Some of the newspaper clippings are glued into the scrapbook, many are loose, there could be a few duplicates not sure. Some of the articles have been circled as they pertained to my family members who were involved with the park. Many of the articles show the different celebrities of that time that came to the park for promotional purposes. There are some empty pages in the scrapbook, that the remaining articles could be mounted on. The news paper articles have been cut out of newspapers, and they have yellowed.
Many of the POP Promotional Pictures have a letter attached describing the picture. These are under the pictures in the binder. There are some of the Flight To Mars, Nautilus Submarine Display, Neptune's Kingdom, Roller Coaster, International Promenade, etc.
Also included are 2 books about the park and other parks. These are both great books with many pictures and stories of the parks and Southern California.
1. Venice of America " Coney Island of the Pacific" by Jeffrey Stanton: Book is in fair condition with only some slight wear to cover and binding.
2. Southern California's Seacoast Then $& Now by Howard Gregory: Book is in good condition.
This is a great one of a kind collection of articles and pictures. Great for reference material, or would make a great addition for anyone who is a collector of historical amusement park memorabilia, Pacific Ocean Park, POP, Santa Monica Pier, Southern California, etc. There are so many articles and pictures, that I can not do justice to the collection with the pictures I have taken.
