I DO NOT USE *PAYPAL* OR CREDIT CARDS! This auction is for beautiful painted A-2 flight jacket to the 100th Bomb Group, the 'Bloody Hundredth'. The planes name is 'MESSY BESSY' of the 418th bomb squadron. Aircraft number 42-30152. T are 23 bombs painted below the plane name on the back which represents the number of missions the man made. T is an English made 8th AAF patch on the left shoulder. A 418th squadron patch on the left front and painted on the right front is Century 100 Bombers in a circle written in old English. That was common with the group to paint that on their A-2's. The paint on the jacket has some cracking and wear to it but it is still strong. T is also a bail-out whistle. The leather has some age cracking to it but not bad and it is still supple. The inside of the collar is frayed from wear which is normal. The tag is still present and the jacket was made by Aero Leather Clo. Co. in Beacon, NY. It is a size 40, for that time period. The lining other then the collar area is good and the cuffs & waistband has been replaced as the original ones were so moth eaten they were falling off. The cuffs & waist band were so bad it took away from the look of the jacket and they were professionally replaced. Replacing the cuffs & waistband does not detract from the overall appearence of the jacket and it also was done to many jackets even during the war because of wear. These jacket were worn in combat although some were just for worn around the base (to show off). The plane 'Messy Bessy' did about 50 missions all together and did survive the war and was in on some important raids into Germany. I have had this jacket in my collection for many, many years. Sorry, but I never had a name to go with the jacket as not every man used a name tag or wrote his name on the inside. If you like the 100th bomb group then this A-2 is for you as it will make a great addition to your collection. The 'Bloody Hundredth' was one of the most famous bomb groups stationed with the 8th AAF in England during WW2. Payment must be received within ten (10) days of auction close and to include shipping and insurance. Money order perfered, cashiers' check or personal check which must clear bank before shipment. Please read the payment instructions. NO *PAYPAL*. Thanks for looking and Good Luck!
