A stuningly great looking portrait card from this 1927 Western from Universal Jewel Pictures....."Painted Ponies".The color is very bright with fantastic boarder art that will draw you in and make you look twice.... maybe three times! The film star is the number one western star at the Universal lot Hoot Gibson and the love interest is played by Miss Ethlyne Clair. Hoot is a cowboy who arrives in town and is smitten with Miss Clair who opperates a merry go round in town with her crippled father. The bad guy is "Pinto Pete" who is played by William Dunn and has ideas about the girl named "Pinto" Hoot confronts the sheriff about all the trouble that's happening. Very nice scene. T are two small tears in the boarder of the card.....one that is 1/2 inch in the bottom center and a 1/4 inch one to the top right side. T is also a tack hole in the top and bottom center boarder that does not hurt the image at all. The back is clean and again....the look of this card is a WOW! T was a very famous western watercolorist of the time that I have seen work that looks very much like the cowboy renditions shown on the framing of this lobby card but I can't remember his name. No signature shown.....do you know his name? Please ask any questions you might have ....International Bidders are always welcome Thank for looking
