Willing - 5th Herd (Winter 2005 ) 2E/0301 Retired January 2006 Comes origial box, styrofoam and tag Artist: Virgil Ortiz Measures 6" high; made of resin. A dramatic interpretation of Black Beauty, "Willing," combines a mystique, sensuality and power. Virgil Ortiz is a very well known and respected artist of the Southwest. Cochiti traditions combined with this artist creativeness for the birth of "Willing." This black beauty is part pueblo, part demi-monde; tattooed with traditional pottery designs, and leather clad. It has silver spikes. See the pieces of leather that he's costumed with? Virgil lives and works at the Cochiti Pueblo. He has collaborated in clothing ventures with New York fashion designer Donna Karan. "Willing" is a show stopping piece of contemporary art currently on display in Phoenix . People gasp when they see the leather stainless-steel "tack." Very original and creative.
