Description: This high quality oil painting by a listed Dutch painter V. Janssens depicts a French aristocratic lady painting en plein air, accompanied by another lady and a napping Spaniel dog by their side. A secret admirer in the background is gazing at them. The little painting on her portable easel contains an image of the countryside. The elaborate garments and the nostalgic world depicted here are typical of Romanticism and its sentimental idealism. A beautiful painting in a beautiful frame. Very good condition. Would benefit from a light cleaning. There are a few small surface scratches typical of age (see pictures).Has a little bit of cracqelure (very small), gesso frame has a little loss on right bottom (was touched up with gold leaf to blend in.
