This is a beautifully carved pair of ivory figures. We unconditionally guarantee these figures are pre-1947 for CITES purposes and we do not contravene ebay's excellent policy of not selling modern ivory. These figures date from around 1900. Exquisitely carved from a pair of tusks they stand just over 10 inches tall (26cm). If you enlarge the photos you can see the Schroger lines on the female's face. Quality is excellent and condition is excellent. The only thing to note is that the female headdress on the left handside appears to have a tiny bit which is rough; the extremity has broken off, but this is only visible with an eyeglass. They are a wonderful pair of mandarin figures which we assume to be Chinese rather than Japanese as we cannot decipher the marks on the bases.
