We have just returned from a grand tour of Italy w we have found some new, and may we say, spectacular discoveries to bring to you this week on Ebay. We are very pleased to present, a breathtaking Monstrance, Chalice & Patten, Ciborium and Incense Holder "Navicella" all from the 1800's, an Antique Tabernacle and Pair of Sanctuary Lamps, plus an exceptional Standing Reliquary with Rare and Important relics from the 1700's. (Please see our Group Photo and check our other Auctions) IN THIS AUCTION we are pleased to offer for your consideration a Pair (2) of Matching Italian Sanctuary Lamps from the 1920's. In Italy the Art Deco style is called "Liberty" and these pieces are wonderful examples of that era. Although they retain the classic Sanctuary Lamp shape, t are stylistic flourishes that set them apart. Three armatures - in graceful fluid form - attach the hanging chains to the Lamp. Two rows of hammered egg shapes form meridians around the Lamp and are separated by a splendid equator of hammered leaves, flowers and fruit. The Sanctuary Lamps have an incredible patina and the soft russet hues of copper show through w the silver metal finish has been worn away - more than likely from inspired polishing!
