A Pair of American Gothic Carved Walnut Hall Chairs, mid-19th c., Philadelphia or Baltimore, foliate carved arched back with pierced scrolls and pendants, hinged serpentine seat with carved rail, foliate cabriole legs, retaining the original finish, height 45 1/2 tall, 19 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 17 inches tall (from the floor to the seat). Note: A nearly identical to the pair is illustrated in Howe and Warren, The Gothic Revival Style in America 1830-1870, p. 27, pl. 43. Buyer to pay shipping and handling.
