Pair Art Deco Venini Murano Lattimo Bowls Stands Scarpa Description - This is a wonderful pair of Art Deco Murano Bowls on 3-pronged Brass or Brass Ormolu Stands. These are 'Lattimo' milk glass bowls with Gold Leaf throughout the inside surface of both bowls. The outer surfaces do not have the gold leaf. The stands appear to be brass ormolu and each prong is topped with a ram's head. I think that these bowls were made at Cappellin & Co. or at Venini, circa about 1925-1935. It is my opinion that they were likely designed by Carlo Scarpa. Scarpa took over as artistic director at Cappellin & Co. in 1926 and moved to Venini in 1934 . He is famed for many techniques including his work with Lattimo glass, and I have seen numerous examples of Scarpa's Lattima with Gold Leaf. In any case, this is an outstanding pair of Art Deco Murano Bowls that are both Artistic and Decorative. Size - Each stand is 9 1/2" tall and almost 8 1/2" in diameter. Estimated 11 pounds packed weight for shipping. Condition - Both of the bowls appear perfect, without nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, repairs, etc... The brass stands are also in excellent condition. The top of the rams' heads are slightly discolored w the bowls have laid against them. I believe this would polish right out, but I haven't touched them and will leave that to the discretion of the buyer. T is some light corrosion at the welds w the three rams' head prongs are attached to the circular upper part of the stand, but otherwise t is nothing that even might be construed as damage. Marks - Both bowls are marked with a textured paper label with serrated edges like a postage stamp. Each label bears the markings "N. SI/173 273" and "Made in Italy". I was unable to identify these labels, but they are obviously early and lend extra credence to the Art Deco attribution.
