****Update -- a few weeks ago, I sent photos of these vases to the antiques auction house Bonhams & Butterfields to see if they were interested in them. I didn't hear back from them, so I figured they weren't interested. Today (Friday) I got e-mail from Bonhams & Butterfields saying, " Our Asian Arts specialist has reviewed your item and would like to arrange an appointment for you to bring them in for appraisal." Sorry, too late. I have already listed them on eBay. So.... bid on these beauties, and let Bonhams & Butterfields' loss be your gain.**** These stunning celadon Chinese vases would be an outstanding addition to any collection. They are 11.5 inches high without the bases. (13 inches with bases.) They are 6.5 inches wide at their widest point. There is a very subtle design under the glaze . (I increased the contrast on the close-up photos so you could see it better.) You are bidding on both vases and their matching wooden bases. One vase has a couple of small crack-like blemishes under the glaze on its bottom edge. (Remember, the close-up photos make them look much bigger than they are.) They are each less than a half-inch across, and the wooden base partially covers them. So they're only noticeable on close inspection. The bottom edge of the second vase is nice and smooth. Unlike many Chinese antiques, the vases are completely glazed inside and water-tight, so they can be used for flowers if you wish. These vases were one of my grandmother's prized possessions and have been in my family for more than 60 years . They have been carefully stored for many years. But storage is not where they belong. These beautiful vases should be the focal point of an elegant room where there can be on display and enjoyed. (Shipping price listed is for Parcel Post.
