Pair Chinese Export Porcelain Scenic Libation Cups & Under Plates, Chien Lung, circa 1770 Description: This is a rare and unusual Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain Libation Cups & Under Plates from Chien Lung Dynasty, (1735 to 1795). Each of the libation cups is ornately decorated with two main reserves of parlor scenes, one side with four figures, one side with three; and stylized molded handles. The central reserve décor of the oval sculpted underplates includes a charming scene with seven Mandarin style figures attired in colorful robes, and a small dog. The borders of the cups and plates include gold scrafito and small scenic reserves. The set is ornately gilded and enameled; the modeling, painting, and glaze are masterfully done with white background beautifully decorated with many colors including iron red orange, lilac purple, yellow, cornflower blue, and aqua. The inside rims include colorful reserve borders of flowers. The underside bottoms are glazed, the raised rim foots are unglazed. Dimensions (in inches)- Cups: approximately 2.8 Tall X 5.2 Wide X 3.7 Deep; Plates: approximately 1.0 Tall X 7.0 Wide X 5.4 Deep. Weight of the set is 1 Lb. 13.7 Oz. The date is circa 1770, late 18th Century. Specifically, Cup #1: a 1/8 inch shallow ding to top of rim, and two ¼ inch slivers to rim foot, some black pits from the original making to inside of cup; Cup #2: a 1.5 inch and ½ inch area of light pitting to the top of the rim; Plates #1 & #2: minor wear to gilding and enameling. The set is in very good condition, with no other chips, cracks, or other defects other than firing flaws and minor wear; no apparent restorations.
