PAIR-FINELY CARVED SOLID QUARTERSAWN OAK NORTH WIND FACE SIDE CHAIRS ATTRIBUTED TO R.J. HORNER OF NYC CIRCA LATE 1890'S With exceptional pride we offer you this stunning pair of richly carved Victorian Gothic styled side chair in solid quartersawn oak by R.J. Horner of New York City. These chairs feature robust carvings of North Wind Blowing Faces on their crests flanked by each right & left sided carved columns topped by turned finials. The center of the back of the chairs are framed by oval moldings surrounded with floral carvings and cabachon cartouches. Each chair has carved cabriolet legs with castered front wheels. The chairs have rich tapestry fabric seats accented in decorative brass headed tacts. Each chair has the R.J. Horner trademark curved stretcher base giving them phenominal strength. The original Jute webbing on one of the chairs has partially let go. We just received these remarkable pair of chairs along with the contents from one of the finest Springfield, Massachusetts Grand Tudor Mansions. We are trying to stay ahead of this load by processing as much as we can as quickly as possible. We are immeadiately sending these chairs off to our upholster's shop where they will receive all new jute webbing (ON BOTH CHAIRS-if one has let go the other is likely to shortly as they simply deteriorate after a Century) and all read more
