Wow is the first thing I said when I saw these at the Paris flea market whilst on a recent buying trip to France. I hope you are agree when looking at the photos. You are viewing a gorgeous pair of horns hand crafted from the finest imari style hard backed ceramic replete with intricate ormolu at all points. These are also known as cornucopia. In the arts a cornucopia is frequently a goat's horn overflowing with produce: a painting or other representation of a goat's horn overflowing with fruits, flowers, and vegetables, used to symbolize plenty or prosperity. It is also called horn of plenty. I really hope the photos go some way in illustrating the ornate ormolu castings on these works of art. The handles themselves feature an upside down dragon creature. T is another similar dragon creature holding the horn up. To the front of the horn t is a bearded male head, perhaps a representation of Neptune. T is also a factory stamp and date 1895 on the underside. The amount of work and craftmanship that has gone into these is breathtaking and they really will be pride of place in your interiors scheme and they are a rare and unique piece.
