We have for sale a beautiful pair of antique French, 19th century sevres-style cobalt blue vases that have been converted into lamps. With the base they measure 27 inches in height, and approximately 7 inches in width, with a 6.5 inch x 6.5 inch base. Both vases are equipped with handles on either side and decorated with gilt ram heads. Gold foliate ornamentation decorates the base, neck, and surrounds the painted images. The set of vases have painted images on either side. The first vase has a painted image that depicts a boy reaching down from a ladder to offer berries to a young girl, who grabs her skirts and looks up at him in response. The reverse side of the vase depicts a fantastical landscape with a strip of land in the foreground and a tree on the right side. A stretch of water leads to several stone buildings and trees in the background; the piece is composed in shades of purple and yellow. The second vase has painted images which are similar. One side depicts a boy reaching down--this time from a tree-- to a young, seated girl whose eyes remain fixed upon her hands, which are busy weaving. The reverse side of the vase depicts a similar fantastical landscape in shades of purple and yellow.
