Pair Jade Green Plates 4 Seasons c1880 Chinese Porcelain

This is an unusual and rare pair of antique porcelain Chinese Jade Green Plates, or Chargers ; they are well modeled and have beautiful decoration.

Each Plate:

-has a jade green background reserve with black scrafito inlay resembling clouds, or smoke;

-has four reserves with finely painted landscape scenes representing the four seasons;

-has decor colors including green, lilac, sepia, and blue;

-has gilding along the top outside rim edge;

-has an unglazed rim foot;

-has an off-white glaze on the underside bottom, and has three clusters of willow leaves in iron red;

-and has a reign mark style stamp in the center in blue under glaze.

The estimated date is late-19th Century, circa 1880, or earlier.

The Pair of Jade Green Plates are in good condition, as noted. Plate #2 has a shallow rough spot, or pitting, inside the rim at 9 o’clock, ½ x ¼ inches. There are normal wear, firing flaws, minor crazing and fretting. (Please see all photos.) Overall, the Pair is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having no apparent repairs or restorations.
