PAIR OF JAPANESE SATSUMA VASES, MEIJI PERIOD, SIGNED Search This is a pair of Japanese satsuma bottle vases with long, flared rim necks. Decorated in the typical satsuma palette with the top half of the vase covered with shields, patterns, fabric designs in black, red, pale blue and gilding. The bottom halves with various scenes of Bejin and Samurai lords with background scenery, water, mountains, etc.Signed to the base in iron red characters.Height 7 1/4" (18.25 cm).One vase has a chip on the rim and cracks to the neck. The other vase is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
