BEAUTIFUL PAIR MINTON WINE COOLERS/CHAMPAGNE BUCKETS CELADON w/BIRDS c1865 Presented is a wonderful pair of Minton wine coolers or champagne buckets, featuring a variety of birds and flowers against a gorgeous celadon green background, with gilded accents. This set has a registry date of February 1st, 1865, and the coolers' actual manufacture is no doubt close to that date. These ceramic pieces are quite beautifully made, with hand-painted birds, flowers, and butterflies, with the pair not being identical in specifics but still clearly a matched set. This is a truly fantastic set of Minton ware, and would be an asset to any home or collection. These pieces are in excellent condition. The lines in the glaze are original to the pieces and are natural results of their manufacture. There is some slight wear to the gilding of the rim and handles, commensurate with age and use. There are no breaks, no chips, no cracks, and no repairs. The underside of each wine cooler bears the Minton mark under the glaze, and the English registry mark in red. Within the registry mark the Roman numeral IV indicates that the material is ceramic, the W is the year mark for 1865, the G is the month mark for February, and 1 indicates the day of the month.
