Pair Murano Art Glass Birds Gold Dust Bubble Gem Quilt Will sell United States Only- Will Ship United States OnlyNO International sales- NO International Shipping is a fantastic pair of vintage art glass birds... I think they may be ducks. The glass is just beautiful! Bases and beaks are clear with included gold flecks. The bodies of the birds are white with gold flecks cased with clear. The white area has a diamond quilted appearance with a network of controlled bubbles that look like gems when the light hits them. They are placed at the intersections of the diamond-like quilt pattern. White and gold lines swirl upward along the necks and into the head. Black applied eyes. The pair is similar, but being handblown they are not exactly alike... they are each unique, one of a kind. The glass is solid, not hollow, and very heavy. They are about 9.5" high, one is slightly shorter. This is a style of glassworking for which the artisans in Murano, Italy, are famous. Neither of our birds have any marks. Bases are ground and polished with somewhat indented, ground and polished pontil in the center. The taller bird has a sharp spot at the edge of the pontil w it coincides with the edge of the base. It may be a chip but I think it's how the pontil was ground. It's not significant but I mention it for accuracy. They are in excellent condition. read more
