PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BERORE ASKING QUESTIONS: I WILL BE LISTING MANY ITEMS FROM MY PRIVATE COLLECTION OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS !!!! These are the HANDS DOWN the BEST pair of Murano lamps I've had , Barovier y Toso by Seguso . This stunning and rare pair of statuesque, opaline with gold adventurine lamps are STUNNING - just look at the breathtaking, luminous effect of the adventurine so delicately spread subtly throughout the pale opaline glass. They change character as the light changes and go from a very, very pale opaque yellow to a shimmering jewel color with flame when the morning or afternoon light shines through them - See the way they glow when the natural light hits the glass and makes them look like the glass blower blew crushed fire opal through them? (You should really try to keep them in a room with good natural light so you can experience the full range). Wow... they are truly works of art combining an etal, gossamer quality with the substantiveness of a pair of vases or sculptures. The oriental style bases are gilt wood with a slight verdigris, lovely aged finish in great shape and original to the lamps which lend to the effect of vases as I mentioned. (Sometimes you get such hideous bases on these lamps but these are fab) . .. I could go on but I know you have things to attend so.... I mentioned rare, yes. Opaline glass has not been made by glass blowers for several decades now, since to create it required the glass artist to blow lead into the glass with his mouth, which, as you can well imagine, was not health promoting. With time it's become more and more rare and highly sought after and I believe good quality Murano and opaline will continue to appreciate in value over the years. My pictures are good but they still don't do justice to these beauties. These will turn whatever space they grace into a showplace. T's a lot of Murano on Ebay but let's be frank, people; most of it is kitschy and too limited in style or color to do be really valuable as a true asset to a decor. These will stand proudly next to that Ming vase, that family heirloom 18th century Italian painting, on an English campaign desk, on a Parzinger buffet/sideboard and so on. I think you understand what I'm saying. Truly, they're nothing short of exquisite in every way and because they're such incredible examples of the best of Venetian glass blowing, I've held onto these for my private collection and they've been gracing my living room for years . In that time I've rarely had someone come in without commenting on how stunning they are, - just look at the pictures and you can see why, but I guarantee they're even more phenomenal in person !!! Their undulating curves and ribs are unbelievably sexy, and in particular I love the shapely forms and timeless style , which makes them accessible to any decor style. These are pieces of art and sublimely trascendent of any deorator boundaries. They can go just about anyw . Be advised, though they look delicate and fragile, they are substantial and heavy. They're in fantastic shape in spite of their vintage 50/60 + years. Bid with confidence and please ask any questions before you bid.
