A Very Elegant Pair of English Silver Plate Wine Coasters, made in England in the 1930s by the famous Birmingham firm of silversmiths, Barker Ellis Ltd, who also had a fashionable shop in the West End of London. These are in the George III style and are fashioned after an original design by Matthew Boulton, one of the greatest British silversmiths of the Late 18th and Early 19th centuries. His work was pre-eminent during the Georgian and Regency periods in Britain. These outstanding examples of English Silver Plate are in a mint state of preservation. Both Coasters are very heavily plated with silver and the silver itself is in a most beautiful condition.The bases of the two Wine Coasters or Decanter Stands are of solid mahogany and the bottom of each one is covered in a dark green baize or felt. The Diameter of each Stand is almost 6 inches across. A wonderful pair of items to display on a gracious table at a formal Dinner Party. This Fine Pair of George III style English Silver Plate Wine Coasters came out of the 18th Century Great House of a Plantation in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica. Please see My Other Auctions on Ebay for a very large Early 19th Century Old Sheffield Plate Silver Meat Dome that came out of the same Plantation House. Also a Magnificent Victorian Half Tester Plantation Bed and other pieces of 19th Century Jamaican Colonial mahogany furniture and other English antiques that came out of the Great House of another plantation in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica.
