This fabulous pair of large, hand-painted porcelain mantle urns by Deseves dates from approximately 1890. The colors, deep robin's egg blue and dusty pink, are clear and crisp against the white ground. The beautifully executed roses and garlands are accented in gold, as well as gold on the handles, rims and knobs. The artist's signature "GF" is believed to be noted on the base. Both urns have their original lids and both are in excellent condition. The knob on one lid has been expertly, professionally repaired at some time in the past and there are no other chips, cracks or repairs noted. To the naked eye the knob repair much like crazing in the glaze rather than a repair. There is only very minor, occasional crazing noted on either urn. Both bases are securely bolted to the bodies. This is a rare and exquisite pair of French antique urns fit for the finest home.
