DESCRIPTION This auction is for a very nice, very large pair of 19th century Staffordshire white spaniels with gilt markings, yellow eyes and black muzzles with red mouths. I believe that because all of the markings are the same in color and style that these are a true pair from the same factory, even though the bodies are slightly different. The difference in body size is not unusual for this period as the molds were made by hand. The right facing spaniel stands 14" high and is 10 1/2" from toes to tail. The left facing spaniel stands 13 1/2" high and is 11" from toes to tail. These both have nice thick bodies that complement their height. Not skinny flatbacks threatening to topple over. Both have crazing and rubbing to the gilt. The left facing dog has paint loss to the muzzle and eyes and some above the toenails on the right foot. T is, also, a tight hairline halfway across the back and running a few inches downward in back.The right facing dog has only a very tiny bit of paint loss to the muzzle. The large x-shaped white spot in the picture is reflection. This dog, also, has a tight hairline running 2" across the front just above the hind leg. All of the above can be seen in my pictures.
