RARE PAIR OF ORIGINAL ANTIQUE EARLY TO MID 19th CENTURY EMPIRE BRASS CANDELABRA, w/ THREE ARMS AND CENTER VASE. Built from several handfinished brass cast parts; most have traces of vertical cast seams. Elaborate design & excellent proportions. Fine palmetto decor; columns sit on paws w/ claws ! Made around the years 1810 to 1850, possibly in Eastern France or Western Switzerland. Both can be easily disassembled for cleaning and study (as shown in the detailed pictures). Both have repairs and bends (as detailed below), but still look very beautiful in ambient light. Condition Details (please read carefully and check all pictures): Authentic traces of use, exposure and repeated cleaning over time (wear, scratches and nicks) on both. Both w/ several old and more recent repairs: 5 of 6 arms have soldered breaks; most of the original handcut bolts have been replaced; two candle dishes are a bit rough; the center vases have been solidly attached to the top ends of the center columns. Too, the arms are not equally aligned and/or a bit bent. Otherwise in good, presentable and stable condition. Cleaned and ready for display and respectful use. Size and Weight: Each is overall approx. 14-3/4" (37.5 cm) high and 10-1/2" (26.7 cm) wide. Foot diameter is 5" (12.7 cm). Top vase is 1-7/8" (4.7 cm) dia. and 2-1/4" (5.7 cm) high. Candle dishes are 2-1/2" (6.3 cm) diameter with 1/4" (0.6 cm) wide rims. Candleholes are 15/16" (2.4 cm) diameter at the arms and 1-9/16" (3.9 cm) dia. in the vase. Weight each: 3.2 lbs (1.45 kg).
