Pair of Swedish Late Empire Gustavian Style Side Chairs I T E M - Pair of Side Chairs O R I G I N - Sweden A G E - c. 1870 I T E M C O N D I T I O N - Very Good to Excellent. Newly Upholstered in Ralph Lauren's Tan Raffia Fabric. D I M E N S I O N S - Each: 18 3/8 w x 19 1/2 d x 33 3/8 in. Seat depth: 15 3/4 in. Seat height: 19 in. D E S C R I P T I O N - Elegant pair of "Senempire" (Late Empire) side chairs c. 1870 Sweden. Also commonly referred to as "in the Gustavian style" due to their style and painted finish. Beautifully carved and painted. Other than restoring the springs and padding, we have chosen to leave these chairs in their original state - distressing and all. The is the real thing ... not a faux finish and not an Americanized version of Swedish! Very comfortable, very sturdy and very versatile. Wonderful on either side of a sofa (the matching one we have listed, perhaps?), in a foyer, flanking a chest or fireplace ... we can think of many ways they will add elegance to your home! *Please note that this auction is for the pair of chairs only.
