LOCAL PICK UP PREFERRED I am very pleased to offer a beautiful pair of signed L. Hitchcock pillow back chairs from a recent Estate Sale. The Hitchcock Furniture Co., known for its quality, beauty and colorfully stenciled colonial furniture, was located in Connecticut and is no longer in business. Good quality pieces such as this are becoming increasingly hard to find. The golds, greens and rosegold floral stenciling looks exquisite against the black background. It is obvious these chairs were very well cared for and not subject to everday use. T are some minor dings and scratches - the right front leg on one chair does have some paint loss - and t are a few areas that the paint is worn away from use, but overall I would consider the pair in exceptional condition ready to display and use in your home. Both chairs are comfortable, strong, and without any loose joints or creaking sounds when sat upon. Each chair is date stamped June 9, 1961 underneath their maple seats, which I was told only means the seats were made then - their actual assembly could have been months later. However, this would put them at approximatley 46 years old. They measure 33" high and 15 1/2" at the widest part of the seat.
