PAIR OF VINTAGE Wm ROGERS STERLING SILVER CANDLE HOLDERS/CANDLEABRA 5"x9"

This is a lovely pair of Wm Rogers Sterling Silver candle holders/candelabra. They each measure 5 ¾" at the highest, and 9 ½" wide. The base measures 3 ½" across. They weight 15.7/15.8 oz each.

The bottoms are marked with the following:

WM ROGERS MFG. CO

STERLING

WEIGHTED REINFORCED

5A-4

The silver is tarnished. I have not cleaned it because I am not good at it. Things end up looking sad when I try. I will leave it to the new owner to make it look wonderful and shiny! T is silver polish residue on them (particularly in the base underneath)

To my uneducated eyes, these pieces seem to be in OK, but used condition. Both are solid. The base is attached firmly to the stem. The 'arms' are firmly attached to the stem. One rocks slightly on a flat surface. That candle holder also has two small dents (which I've tried to photograph) on the candle holder part. One is on the center one and one an the outside. My guess is that I dropped this one when I was young! Unless you're studying it, it's not really noticeable.

My parents would have received this as a wedding present in 1952, so I've dated it to post-1940. That said, I've found other listings for similar items which date it back to the early 1900's. I don't know which answer is correct. If I had to guess, I'd say that it was new in 1952, but I could be wrong.

Thank you for taking the time to view this item. I know that t's an awful lot of stuff 'out t in e-bay-land' that you can be looking at. All of the items that I am listing (and listing and listing...I am going to turn into an e-bay queen!) are from my father's estate. He lived in New York City , in the same apartment for 45 years...and he was the consummate pack-rat. I emptied the apartment out, and just can't throw away much of what I found...I'm sure it's a task that many out t can relate to. I will be very happy to see items go to someone who understands what it is, and will appreciate it. Anyway, much of the 'stuff' is out of my usual realm, so I'm trying to describe it as I see it. I'm also trying to emphasize what's wrong w I see something, because I know that a bidder only has a couple of photos and my description to go on. Please do not hesitate to e-mail any questions. HAPPY BIDDING!

I do NOT put a reserve on any items...that takes away part of the fun!
