SUPERB PAIR OF TWIN SIZED CUSTOM MADE CHIPPENDALE STYLED SOLID MAHOGANY BEDS BY THE KAPLAN FURNITURE COMPANY With Miner Miracles Antiques most sincere pleasure we are delighted to offer this remarkable pair of custom made Chippendale styled tall four poster twin sized beds by the famed Kaplan Furniture Company formerly of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kaplan Furniture represents the very height of the finest in craftsmanship of the Boston custom furniture world. When Jacqueline Kennedy became our First Lady she set about on an ambitious undertaking of the restoration of the White House. What original furnishings of the White House that she could not track down she had replaced by commissioning the Kaplan Furniture Company to recreate the missing pieces from historical photographs & renderings. This pair of beds represents Kaplan’s finest works. These 1920’s vintage beds have urn finials adorning their deeply reeded, tapered, turned & acanthus carved posts. Each has eloquently turned blanket rails on their footboards. Each headboard is 61” tall & the footboards stand 55” tall. Each is 40” wide & is fastened by bed bolts & 1 ½” X 3 ½” thick rails. Each footboard has a swing open brass bed bolt covers. Each rail is 38” wide (inner dimension). These beds are designed to take rabbit edge foundations (these cost about $100 more than normal foundations) although when we found these they had regular twin sized foundation that were pushed down inside of the rails and held up with strips of wood installed inside of each side of the rails. These beds will arrive to you with a refreshed lacquer coating with all the warmth & fine patina of their original finish in tact.
