A splendid pair of Thoune Pottery faiences vases. These magnificent vases bear the names of the Swiss regions Thun & Bern to the front, with the coats of arms of the regions to the back. The sides of the vases are beautifully decorated with flowers & foliage. Signed JW, which I believe stands for Johann Wanzeried, the vases date to around 1900. They measure 21.2 cm high, 8½ inches, by 16.3 cm in diameter, 6½ inches. Both vases are free from any damage, with no breaks, cracks or hairlines. There has been some professional restoration to a few small flakes & nibble round the bottom, but these are minor & invisible repairs .
