This auction is for a pair of Maria Helena cloth and wire dolls made in Portugal in the 1950s. Each doll stands approximately 10 1/2 inches high. The boy doll has a blue and white checkered shirt, black felt pants, a red sash, tan leather shoes and a green and red felt hat that stands up on its own. He is carrying two baskets filled with felt fruit. His face is embroidered and has rosy cheeks. The boy doll still has the Maria Helena Made in Portugal tag -- please see the photo. The girl doll has a green and white checkered shirt with embroidered flowers and a green felt skirt. She is wearing a red patterned apron and a red polka dot head scarf. She also has leather shoes, but any markings on the bottom of the shoes have worn away. She has yarn wrapped stockings with a few holes in the stockings on each leg. She is carrying a basket of felt fruit on her head, and, like the boy, has an embroidered face and rosy cheeks.
