A fantastic pair of Wilkinson 'Chloris' pattern tureens with ladles. High Deco styling, lovely angular feet and lug handles, almost Space Age in appearance! Each tureen stands approx. 5.75" high (14.5cm) and each ladle is approx. 7" long (17.5 cm). The ladles are slightly different, one printed with the pattern in scale to the pattern on the other pieces, the other with an enlarged section of the pattern. It is this latter ladle that bears the CHLORIS mark. The blue enamel is almost entirely missing from the unmarked ladle; this is a manufacturing flaw rather than the result of wear. There is some stray blue enamel to the marked ladle. One tureen base and one ladle is marked CHLORIS printed in blue, the other pieces are unmarked bar the number 8919 painted in blue to each tureen base and 11 to one base, 12 to the other. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. One cover has some open, clean crazing inside and out, no other crazing. Occasional minor marks to the enamels, by no means excessive or obvious. A super pair of visually exciting Art Deco pieces.
