The A rtifact V ault has been opened, welcome to our auction ! Here we have a Lance Type that came in at the end of the Paleo era. Originally called Long points, they were renamed Angostura during excavations at the type site, a lake by the same name in South Dakota. This a very well made example that was found in Howard Co. Mo. in a creek in 2008. Name of finder on the Motley COA dated 07-24-08. Measuring 3 7/8" x 1 3/16" it has some really OUTSTANDING FLAKING and the material is about as cool a piece of Burlington as you will ever see. Loaded with fossils, some of which are crystallized, it was the flaking that drew me to this BEAUTY. Flaked to a light median ridge, it is thin and very well made with absolutely NO DAMAGE . There is 1 fossil that is extremely hard, but the ancient knapper showed his skill by working the material to near perfection, save for 2 small spots that just would not come off (due to that fossil). I purchased this in person at Rainbow Traders Auction back in December of 2008. I had gone to that auction for a cpl of specific pieces and this was not 1 of them. But as it was being auctioned, I just could NOT get past the FLAKING! FANTASTIC PIECE of Early American Pre-History. Please enlarge the pictures and have a look, I don't think you will be disappointed with this piece. Can't start this 1 low, I must protect read more
