We are pleased to be offering this wonderful Victorian platform rocker made by the Palmer Cox Furniture Company out of New York City with a patent date of May 3, 1870 on the brass tag on the platform rocker. We have had one of these chairs before. We have completely restored and reupholstered this beautiful burl walnut Renaissance style rocker. It has burl panels on the fancy carved crest, down the side posts, and has a most unusual metal wrap around spring arm that has an upholstered cushion on the arm rest. A multi-turned spindle platform base is all complete even with the original oval brass tag. This is chair is outstanding and finished in a medium walnut stain and our professional upholsterer has put a Chinese red synthetic suede fabric on it, which certainly looks period, and we are very pleased with the way the rocker turned out. The overall size is 27" wide x 28" deep x 43.5" high to the top of the carved crest x 17.5" high to the seat. All wood components are original and intact with the exception of one multi-turned wooden stretcher, which was damaged and we have replaced. All the side buttons and shields are still intact and of course the hard to find incised carved covers that go on top of the section of the metal spring arm are still intact, which you would believe would be missing since they are so fragile. We have only had one other chair like this in our life and we are very pleased to have the good fortune to find this one. ******************SHIPPING****************** It will cost $135.00 to have this rocker shipped anywhere within the 48 states (please e-mail for a quote outside the 48 states).
