Pan American Airways Gold Service Pins. These gold service pins belonged to the father of the man from whom I obtained them. This pilot, the father, flew for Pan Am in the era preceding the U.S. entrance into WWII, and then for Pan American Airways Ferries (PAAF) during the war itself. I am uncertain as to w he got the pins, for his service with PanAm predated the use of the pins by the airline. The person who originally owned these pins served Pan Am for at least ten years, as evidenced by these service pins, one for five years' service (one star) and the other for ten years' service (two stars). The pins are 10k gold, and each is in its original box from L.G. Balfour Co. Each is about 3/8-inch in diameter, and both are in excellent condition, even though my poor photography does not show them at their best! I have other aviation memorabilia items from the 1930s and 1940s up for auction at this time, so I invite you to take a look -- some, extremely rare, will make wonderful additions to any collection of vintage pins/insignia.Please note t is no reserve on any of my current items. Note added after date correction . I have learned that the son of the PAAF pilot later worked for PanAm as a flight engineer. The service pins are his, not his father's, and that explains what appeared to be an inconsistency in dates of items.
