We consider our Choco baskets (Wounaan and Embera), to be both fine art and superior examples of indigenous peoples’ craftsmanship. We have been buying baskets in Panama since January, 2000. We try to buy directly and fairly from the best weavers. More than price, our prime considerations have always been quality of the weave, the colors, the design, symmetry and balance, and most importantly, general impression. The baskets are “sewn” or woven from Chunga and Nahuala palm. The natural colors come primarily from different native plant parts. The fine tight stitches give these baskets a very firm rigid construction. We are collectors. We buy only the highest quality baskets and return all gross profits on any baskets we sell to the villages where we buy. Please e-mail us if you have any questions. ***** A MEDIUM-LARGE PICTORIAL BASKET - Height – 8 inches, Circumference – 28 inches.
