Represented on the obverse of the coin, there is the State Emblem of Papua New Guinea. Along the rim of the coin, there are the inscriptions indicating the name of the issuing country as well as the issuing year. The reverse design features the image of a Spiny Anteater also known as an Echidna with two black diamonds inserted in its eyes. Papua New Guinea is home to almost 7 percent of the world’s biodiversity, with more than 200 species of mammals and 700 species of birds, along with 21,000 species of plants.
