PARKER 51, COCOA COLOR, LUSTRALOY, MEDIUM NIB, WORKING FROSTY MATTE FINISH, GLOSSY CAP BAND, 1948 AEROMETRIC I am a Trading Assistant - I can sell items for you! Parker 51 in brushed steel 'Lustraloy' cap and cocoa barrel. The very tip of the plastic hood has a little nick---I didn't notice it till I was looking at the completed closeup photos---and t's a slight ripple from the shape of the collector piece under the hood. Otherwise condition is excellent: the cap is nice and frosty, with no dents or dings and only minor shallow scratches, and the barrel has a very clear imprint. The pen has an '8' date code with one dot, indicating production in the third quarter of 1948, which I believe was the first year of the aerometric 51. The wide cap band of polished metal is quite attractive, and contrasts pleasantly with the frostiness of the matte finish above. The barrel color is nice and even, and goes well with the steel of the cap. The combination of the grey with the almost flesh-tone cocoa is very characteristic of the period and gives the pen a stylish look. This pen comes with a medium point, somewhat hard to find in Parker 51s, since most nibs were fine points.
