is a VERY rare cranberry hanging library lamp made by the Charles Parker Co. This lamp is more commonly known as a petticoat lamp. This lamp was manufactured in 1880's to late the 1890"s and is all original and completely in tact. This lamp is still in oil burning condition and has untouched patina. T are no holes drilled in any part of this lamp for electrification. The yellow brass frame is adorned with jeweled cast brass accents and all completely original. Nothing has been replaired, reproduced, or replaced. It is complete right down to the original smoke bell. The ceiling extension motor is correct and in opperational condition. The prisms on the upper leveler ring are oricinals as well. The cranberry diamond quilt pattern glass is a perfect match. The font cover is in excellent condition and free from any damage. It is adorned with a brass band displaying embossed dragons and is cradled in an ornate cast brass basket. The shade, unfortunately has been cracked and repaired in years past, but displayes very well. It can only be seen under close inspection. I have the damaged area turned to the side and it is very difficult to see while the lamp is hanging from the ceiling. Lamps of this quality and caliber do not often come available for sale. This is a good opportunity to obtain and rare all original lamp at a fraction of the cost of one with a "perfect" shade. Please refer to "Hanging Victorian Lamps" by Jeffery Ebersole for similar examples. I have a reserve on this item to protect my investment. This lamp is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Thank you..... If you have any questions, please do not hessitate to e-mail me. Winning bidder to pay by Pay-Pal, check, money order, or certified check. Winning bidder also pays $55.00 shipping and insurance anyw in the continental USA. Thank you for looking and good luck.......... The crack starts at the top edge of the shade and travels down and makes a loop connecting back to itself. T is a star crack at the top of the oblong loop. It apears someone was putting the oil font back in the frame with the chimney on the burner and smacked the top of the chimney into the shade???? Or maybe a prism fell and hit the shade from the top side???? It was cracked when I purchased it. A shame for sure, but still displays nicely and still rings like bell. It was very hard to photograph, but I hope this helps...... Thank you to all for your interest. |
